Our Spotlight Dog of the Week is Bubblegum! [PHOTOS]
I know we haven’t done our spotlight dog in a little while, but after you read about Bubblegum you’ll know why it took some time.
A past adopter called the Pit Bull Rescue with the concern of a dog that was on the ramp to the interstate. They immediately went to the location to assist with the dog. The woman was able to slowly reverse down the ramp to encourage the dog to go in a new and safer direction.
The rescue was sure this didn’t make many people happy that were watching and never stopped to assist the poor dog. The first concern was getting her safely away from the traffic. When they were able to get her to safety they were able to relax, but only for a little while.
Now out of harms way, the biggest task was ahead, they needed to capture her! She was very willing to trust the ladies with treats. They finally loaded her up and brought her into the rescue. She had a much needed bath, a healthy bowl of food, but most importantly, she had love. Beneath all the scabs, there is a beautiful girl. She was wagging her tail and giving free kisses to those around her! Now in good hands, she has the first taste of life.
Bubblegum is severely underweight, covered in demodex and has a severe eye infection. She has a few other minor issues going on, but these are the top 3. She is ONLY a baby! She has not even cut all her baby teeth yet. This is what rescue work is all about. Helping those animals that humanity has failed over and over again.
The LCPBR is stepping up to show Bubblegum that humans do love her. Please be that person who will help turn her life around and give her the love she deserves. Her name was chosen because of her rescue story. While trying to keep her out of harms way, the only thing they had in the vehicle to offer her was bubblegum. The smell was enough to keep her off the road until a rescue volunteer could come out to assist.
They are asking all of their fans and supporters to please help with her vet care. She will require an aggressive treatment for her demodex. We will also need to help her with weight gain and vitamins. With her severe case of demodex, she will need a variety of vitamins to help her immune system. She will need medicine to fight the severe eye infection. Then we will also need to get her vaccinations, microchip and spay.
Crystal Flowers, LCPBR Vice President, says that so far thanks to the fans and supporters over $600 dollars have been raised to help Bubblegum!
